SECOND QUARTER 2021 EDITION

 Forty-five years ago, on a Tuesday night in April, my neighbor, Dan Hayes, the Area Director with Campus Crusade for Christ, shared a verse in the Bible with me that rocked my world!  It was as if a light came on, a breath-taking moment, a life –changing point in time. It was the answer to my deepest questions about God. It tore down the wall of separation from God that I had built. The verse that was shared with me: 

John 14:6. “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, no man comes to the Father but by Me.” 

Recently, with time on my hands, forced by the Corona Virus, I have been attempting to read some of the Christian classics. Many are profound and some are difficult for this poor brain of mine to comprehend. I neared the end of one of these classics (The Imitation of Christ, by Thomas A’ Kempis) when I came upon this: 

Follow thou Me: “I am The Way, The Truth and The Life” (John 14:6) 

“Without the Way, there is no going; without the Truth, there is no knowing; without the Life. There is no living. 

 I am the Way, which you ought to follow; the Truth, which you ought to believe; the Life, which you ought to hope for. 

I am the Way inviolable, the Truth infallible, the Life unending. 

I am the Way that is straightest, the Truth that is highest, the Life that is truest, the Life blessed, the Life uncreated. 

If you remain in My way: “You shall know the Truth and the Truth shall make you free” (John 8:31, 32) and you shall lay hold on eternal life.” 

Once again, I was taken back to that night in 1975 when I discovered Who was and will always be the Way, the Truth, and the Life for me and for all who will truly seek Him. So… 

“Seek and you shall find, ask and you shall receive, knock and the door shall be opened.” (Matthew 7:7) “Seek the Lord while He may be found: call on Him while He is near.” 

Folks, this invitation is time-sensitive.  We do not know when, either the Lord will call us home or He will return. As C.S. Lewis says, “When the Author walks on the stage the play is over.” The time for choosing will be over. “Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord." Joshua 24:15
