JUNE 2018

CHRIST - THE REESE SOURCE
THE NEWSLETTER OF NET WORK MINISTRIES, INC.
 JUNE 2018 EDITION

A friend of mine who retired as the CEO of a large corporation tells of the time years ago when he was just establishing himself there. He decided that the corporation needed a mission statement, which has become a standard business practice today.  This he accomplished after trial and error.

When we began Net Work Ministries in 1992, we developed a mission statement. It reads as follows:

NET WORK MINISTRIES, INC. EXISTS FOR THE PURPOSE OF BRINGING TOGETHER GOD’S PEOPLE AND HIS RESOURCES TO PRESENT THE HEALING MESSAGE OF CHRIST’S   UNCONDITIONAL LOVE, THROUGH WORD AND DEED, TO A HURTING AND LOST WORLD.

Some of us have developed a personal mission statement.
I borrowed mine from a friend:

To die and go to Heaven and take as many people with me as I can.” It may not be eloquent or theologically astute but I like it. It expresses my desire to influence the world for Christ. It is taken from Scripture:

"But my life is worth nothing unless I use it for doing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus - the work of telling others the Good News about God's wonderful kindness and love"
 (Acts 20:24 - The New Living Bible)

My CEO friend has recently developed a mission statement for his family. This he did in consultation with the immediate members of his family and their spouses. I think this is a great idea. Bear in mind the other participants in the development of the statement are grown and have children of their own. This indicates to me that it is never too late to start to develop one. My friend had the statement signed by each family, had it printed on parchment paper and framed. It hangs in a prominent place in each family’s home. I would like to share it with you:

A FAMILY MISSION STATEMENT

         TO CREATE A FAMILY ENVIRONMENT WHERE:

•           ONE CAN FIND REST AND BE RENEWED;

•           RELATIONSHIPS CAN GROW AND FLORISH EVEN
         AMONG THOSE WHO MIGHT VIEW THINGS DIFFERENTLY;

•           ENCOURAGEMENT CAN OVERCOME DISCOURAGEMENT;

•           PEACE IS FOUND IN THE MIDST OF THE STORMS OF LIFE;

•           BLESSINGS ARE REALIZED BY SHARING AND
         SUPPORTING OTHERS;

•           UNCONDITIONAL LOVE ABIDES; AND

•           JESUS CHRIST IS LORD.

We, the members of the ____family, commit our best efforts to fulfill this mission that we have established together and encourage those who follow us to do likewise:

We continue to seek to minister to men and their families wherever God leads us. I have also enjoyed my role as pastor to the staff of Young Life in the Southeast region. Recently, Peggy and I had the opportunity to host families from around the country for a week at Young Life’s Crooked Creek Ranch in Fraser, Colorado.  The purpose was to give them a firsthand look at Young Life.

I am grateful for your friendship, encouragement, prayers, and support of Net Work Ministries.
