Christ - The Reese Source - October 2008 Edition

My Heart

As I sit at my desk, thinking of what to write to you, it occurs to me that I want you to know my heart.

More than anything, I want each person who reads this newsletter to know the amazing love that Christ has for each of us, no matter who we are, what we have done, what we have not done, or what we will do. I desire that each one of us would know for sure that when we die, we will spend eternity face-to-face with God. Further, I desire that we will spend the rest of our lives experiencing a growing sense of His presence and enjoying the peace of God that passes all human understanding, come what may in this life.

I have encountered each of you in different ways. I have known some of you through church, some through Young Life and some through morning Bible study groups. I have had the privilege of knowing some of you for many years, some for just a brief time. Know this….each of you has blessed me with your friendship.

I confess that, for many of you, I have not been the friend that I could be. Oftentimes, I have been insensitive, overbearing, slow to listen, quickly offering unsolicited advice or opinion when silence would have served the situation better. Forgive me. Further, I do ask that you please do not allow me to get away with this. Those who have cared most for me over the years have held me accountable. I have tried to learn from them and grow from their admonishment. I welcome feedback in regards to my ministry and my personal life as you experience them.

I do not know what the future holds for Net Work Ministries and me. I honestly must say that things are tough right now. I know that I am not alone in this situation. Many of us are suffering economically. I do know for sure that God has called me to this ministry to men and their families. I, also, do not think that God uses lack of finances as a reason to abandon a calling to ministry. It is my desire to reach out to as many men as possible until the Lord calls me home to be with Him. I need your help with this. I have often mentioned my desire to facilitate another group. I am open to your suggestion. Give me a call. If you have a friend that need for someone to walk alongside them in their struggles, please call me.

I close with the verses that best describe my calling and my heart for you:

“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me--the task of testifying to the gospel of God's grace.” (Acts 20:24)

I thank my God in all my remembrances of you.” (Phillipians 1:3

MINISTRY NEWS:

On October 11th, our Friday Morning Men’s Group enjoyed a wonderful evening together at the beautiful home of Pat Head and his wife, Beverly Collins. Pat and Neal Sisson provided great music from “our era” on guitar, keyboard and banjo to facilitate a lively sing-a-long. John McMennamy and Marshall Dye procured and prepared our fabulous entrĂ©e, marinated tenderloin. We also enjoyed many wonderful side dishes and desserts provided by our spouses. Thanks to all who made the evening a wonderful time with old friends as well as new.

The Friday Morning group continues its’ discussion of the book, “The Shack.” It has promoted a lively discussion.

The Friday Warehouse Lunch group in Alpharetta has been challenging and enjoyable.

There have been many opportunities for individual ministry with men.
